Givers Never Lack
Tomorrows Gift Charity Foundation supports the very poor, needy and vulnerable members of our community. Caring for Orphans is a significant part of Islam. Orphans are mentioned 22 times in the Qur’an; nurturing and sponsoring them is an immensely valuable good deed.
In line with the International best practices, we encourage Orphans to stay with their families and receive support from The Tomorrows Gift Charity Foundation.
Family — based care is the preferred alternative care option for children because it helps ensure that children grow up ina stable, safe and caring family.
There is nothing more comforting for a child than a mother’s presence. The mother is the most essential figure of attachment in a child’s life from the beginning. Hence we decided to support the mothers and families of Orphans with a view to keeping the family unit intact together to enjoy the bond.
The Prophet (SAW) said, “The one who cares for an Orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this”, and he (SAW) held his two fingers together to illustrate. [Bukhari 5304].
Our Foundation volunteers are responsible for identifying needy orphan families by liaising with community leaders and Mosque Imams. A monthly revolving fund of ‘X’ amount shall be dedicated to this Activity. A register marked with date, Mother/Family name, address, no of children, sex and ages, and amount donated shall be maintained.
Based on the recent official survey data (2023) from the Nigerian National Bureau of statistics, 39.1% (88.4 million) Nigerians lived below the International Extreme Poverty threshold of $1.90 a day. More than 90% of those people unfortunately live in the northern part of Nigeria. Because of this abject poverty, most of them cannot afford N2,000 to treat themselves and eventually end up dying without receiving medical attention.
“Whoever saves one life — it is as if he had saved ail of mankind” [The noble Qur’an, 5:32]
The Tomorrows Gift Charity Foundation was primarily formed by kind and generous Nigerians to address this critical area amongst others. The transaction dynamics of the program is simple. Tomorrows Gift Charity Foundation enters into an Agreement with a Volunteer Health personnels who are working in State Hospitals and Federal Medical Centers in the North initially (to be expanded to the South when resources permit).
A revolving fund of ‘X’ amount is released to these Volunteers who are our Health partners either on a monthly or bi-monthly basis depending on our cash position. These Volunteers are expected to open a Patient register, showing date, name, address, sex, age, and amount donated shall be kept as a prerequisite for replenishment of the revolving fund.
The Prophet (SAW) said:
“Feed the hungry, visit the sick, and free the Prisoner”. Freeing the muslim Prisoners is a duty upon all the muslims. “Whoever frees a muslim man, he will be his ransom from the Fire”
[Ibn Majah — 2522].It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Prophet (SAW) and said: O’Messenger of Allah, which of the people is dearest to Allah? And which deeds are dearest to Allah?
The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “The dearest of people to Allah (SWT), is the one who does most benefit to people, and the dearest of deeds to Allah (SWT), is joy that you bring to a Muslim, or relieving him of distress, or paying off debt for him, or dispelling his hunger. And to walk with a brother to meet his needs is dearer to me than observing i’tikaaf in this mosque – meaning the mosque of Madinah – for a month.” Narrated by [at-Tabaraani – 12/453; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh at-Targheeb 955].
